F25 (W12):Final Week of 2025 CSA!

Dear Farm Community -

WOW WOW WOW! It’s the final week of our 2025 CSA, and what a banner year it’s been sharing our harvests with you. Before I get too lost waxing poetic about the year we’ve had, we would love for you to share your thoughts in our 2025 End of Season CSA Survey. We take your feedback to heart, and it directly shapes the improvements and changes we make going into 2026. It only takes a few minutes and helps us keep making the CSA better each year. Head to the survey HERE!

Now for the poetry ;) Since January, we’ve distributed over 6,000 vegetable shares, 842 flower shares, and 1,155 dozen eggs…. (that’s 13,860 eggs!) And that’s a whole lot of veggies grown, meals cooked, and vases filled. More than anything, it represents countless evenings where the food we’ve grown became part of your dinner table, part of your routines, and part of the memories you’ve made cooking for the people you love. It’s the long days we’ve spent tending to the crops and caring for the land, planting, weeding, and harvesting, and laboring in the heat, the cold, and everything in between, knowing that the energy we put into farming goes into something bigger ~ the food that nourishes you, the meals that bring people together, and the connection from our hands in the soil to your table at home. It’s an honor to be woven into your week, and we’re so grateful to have had you with us for this year’s CSA season. Stay tuned for CSA 2026 details! We’ll be sharing updates and announcements throughout our off-season newsletters, so keep reading and following along with all of our winter hijinks.

We do hope you’ll join us next week at the Athens Farmers Market’s special Harvest Market on Wednesday, November 26th from 11AM–3PM to pick up your Thanksgiving veggies! Our stand will be stocked with favorites and classics like celery, carrots, lettuces, sweet potatoes, and more. We can’t wait to see you there!

We are still accepting submissions for our 2025 Community Cookbook, and we’d love to include your kitchen magic! It’s quick and easy to contribute, and it would mean so much to us (and to everyone who’ll be cooking from it!) You don’t have to be a CSA member to join in ~ we welcome farm family, friends, and fans near and far. Just hit reply and share a link, photo, or typed recipe featuring your favorite fruit- or veggie-forward dish from this year. Your recipe might become someone else’s new go-to meal… so don’t overthink it, just share what you love! We can’t wait to celebrate and share all of these as the year comes to a close.

Your CSA Shares this week contain green tomatoes! Green tomatoes are firm, tart unripe tomatoes that pack a bright, tangy flavor. We harvest these at the end of a planting prior to flipping the beds, or at the end of a season, ahead of chilly weather that’ll freeze them through. While most of our greenhouse tomatoes survived last week’s freeze, one large house was cleared out and now green tomatoes abound! Green ‘maters are perfect for more than just frying, but of course we would be remiss not to mention a recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes. If you want to skip the breading, try making a simple seasoning of salt, pepper, and smoked paprika, sprinkle that on your sliced green tomatoes, and pan fry until tender. It makes a great side dish or companion to eggs or sausage in the morning! You can also make a zesty green tomato salsa or a simmered & canned green tomato salsa verde to enjoy later. Green Tomato Gazpacho is also a favorite, especially for an unseasonably warm November day. Assemble a fancy schmancy green tomato salad, or just cut a few up and toss them into whatever salad you’re already making. And for preservation fun, try green tomato pickles to enjoy that crisp, tart bite all winter long.

THANK YOU ENDLESSLY!!
