F25 (W11): We’re lucky ;)
Dear Farm Community -
What a sweet ol’ time we had on Saturday night! We gathered with some of our wonderful CSA members for our fall potluck, and the spread was unreal!!!! A classic sweet potato casserole made to perfection, tomato salad with goat cheese and cardamom, Samin Nosrat’s “Pane Criminale” (criminally good garlic bread…), roasted radishes, a delicious squash and caramelized onion galette, salsa made from a CSA member’s own garden-grown poblano peppers, some incredible quiches, and much much more! We walked around the farm and checked on our late fall crops and cold weather prep, and had a generally wonderful time chatting all together :) The evening wrapped up perfectly around the fire with extra-special s’mores made with comically large marshmallows (do they just keep getting bigger?) and Reese’s peanut butter cups (!!). A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, it was such a lovely night. If you weren’t able to join us, we hope to see you on the farm next year!
Out in the fields we’re still busy prepping for the freeze coming tonight!! Harvesting the warmer-weather crops en masse that’ll be killed off by the sub-zero temps rolling through, and prepping our cooler weather crops and high tunnel plantings with row cover to keep them snug. That includes all the baby flowers that went in the ground last week ~ poppies and anemones are on their way to spring blooms and our ranunculus house is totally filled! We hope they fare well through the cold.
In veggie land we’re busy prepping beds for our big garlic and onion planting. This HUGE task is always a marathon that turns into kind of a “we’re suffering, but we’re suffering together” party.
In truly groundbreaking farm news, our beloved farm cat Chicken officially got his driver’s license. We couldn’t be prouder. After years of supervising from the passenger seat (and often napping on the drivers seat), he’s finally taking the wheel himself. Keep an eye out on local roads for a small gray blur driving 5 mph under the speed limit and changing lanes with no turn signal.
This running joke made the rounds on the farm last week, and it brought us so much laughter we had to share it. Thanks for not taking us TOO seriously.

We’re putting together our 2025 COMMUNITY COOKBOOK and want to include your kitchen magic! It’s quick and easy to contribute and would mean SO MUCH to us and the community. You dont have to be a CSA member to contribute, we welcome all farm family and fans near and far ~ just hit reply and share a link, photo, or typed recipe featuring your favorite fruit- or veggie-forward dish from this year. Your recipe might just inspire someone’s next favorite meal… so don’t overthink it, just share what you love! 💚 :)
Your CSA shares this week contain parsley! We all know parsley, a humble bunch of herbs… steadfast, reliable parsley. While she’s usually a humble supporting character, let her take center stage this week and shine in your meals!! It totally makes the dish in this recipe for Hashweh Rice, a killer one-pot middle eastern meal that is so incredibly nourishing and cozy (it’s on the Greatest Hits recipe rotation in this household). You could chop your parsley into a bright, crunchy carrot and parsley salad and use the carrots in your share (bonus points for a little shaved fennel in there too). Drizzle green goddess dressing over your head lettuce and arugula for an herbaceous side (add a lil tuna to make it a main or skip the greens and have a green goddess tuna salad sammie)…
If you’re in the large share club, things get even more exciting… think roasted butternut squash with parsley pesto, or tabbouleh with those beautiful tomatoes.
After you’re done using your parsley in a million creative ways…. check and see if you’ve still got some sweet potatoes from last week. This sheet pan chicken with fennel and olives is weeknight magic and the perfect way to eat your fennel.
Stay warm tonight!!
