SP26 (WK3): Surfing on a Tidal Wave of Flowers
Dear Farm Community -
We are in FULL BLOOM here at the farm!!!!! The flowers have come on in an absolute tidal wave and the flower team is so locked in that every farmer’s harvesting snips are basically just an extension of their arm at this point…. we are one with the snips 🧘♀️ ✂️ 🌸 And while we’re a biiiiiiiit nervous about the very chilly temps rolling through the next few days, we are feeling eager to push past this last bit of winter doldrums and get to those warm springy sunny and joyful days ahead (until it summer rolls around when we’ll be eating our words!)
With all of our flowers bursting forth with miraculous life, last week felt like the perfect time to invite some friends of the farm out to peep the blooms. We had the distinct pleasure of hosting some of our favorite local florists and flower clients on the farm to take in the spring abundance. Folks from Consider the Lillies, Community Roots, In the Meadow Designs, and Full Bloom by Lauren came by to see where their flowers come from.
It’s always a rewarding experience to help facilitate that connection to the land for anyone who has a relationship with what we harvest from it. For these florists, flowers are their life just as much as they are for us. Bridging the gap between meaning and origin means everything to us. To share that connection with the florists whose craft brings beauty and feeling to so many weddings, showers, and other big life events… well, it’s special to us to have that connection with them too. What we grow really matters to us, and it means a lot that how we grow it matters to them.
Thanks for stopping by, guys! :’)
While we’d love to take each and every one of you on a farm tour right this very moment, we’re up to our eyeballs in blooms right now. Hopefully these photos of technicolor abundance can scratch that itch until we’re able to host y’all in person ;-)
Now imagine fresh flowers from these fields on your kitchen table every week ~ all season long! A little jar of tulips on the breakfast table…. a bright bouquet greeting you when you walk through the door after a long day ~ a splash of color and life in your home, week after week as the season unfolds. If you’d like to welcome some of this springtime joy into your home, we encourage you to sign up for our weekly Flower CSA, only $20/week.
Why join our flower CSA instead of grabbing a bouquet at market? Less handling between the field and your door means blooms arrive in pristine condition, and you receive more flowers for your money as a thank-you for committing to our floral endeavors. If certain extra-special flowers are in short supply, we make sure our CSA bouquets are the priority. Farmer Bekah, who is truly madly deeply obsessed with floral design, personally assembles each bouquet with great attention, love, and generosity, resulting in more personal attention and thoughtfully styled arrangements than we’re able to offer at market. Plus, you receive all the benefits of full CSA membership: invites to member-only farm events, discounts on merch and ticketed gatherings, referral bonuses, and more.
If you’d like to join our Flower CSA, head to our web store and sign up today! 🌸
Your CSA shares this week contain arugula, the spicy minx of the greens world. There’s a reason it’s called “rocket” in the UK. She makes a recipe bold! She makes a recipe zesty! This week why don’t you cook up some linguine with mushroom pesto topped with arugula, for all the umami savory self actualization you could dream of. The tried and true arugula pizza topping is a perfect option for a cozy night in with a movie or some fun dinner table conversation - try this recipe that calls for hot honey and artichoke hearts, too. If you want to keep it simple because you aint got time for all that, take a quick 5 minutes to assemble this arugula salad with parm, olive oil, lemon, and salt.
