We’ve been prepping for our little holiday break and reflecting on the spirit of giving.

Our fingers may put up a fight in the early mornings when it’s still under 40F, but the truth is many of us on the farm love weeding.

We’re beginning the long and labor-intensive process of clearing out all the old warm weather plantings and making way for our big plan-ahead crops like garlic, onions, and spring flowers!

We’ve been getting ready for the colder temps headed our way and prepping for springtime.

A few weeks earlier than the average date of first frost for Athens, but not totally out of the blue. We had a busy time getting the farm ready for the freeze!

As all of you seasoned gardeners know, first frost marks a turning point for plants.

This is such a rewarding time of year— all the hard work prepping fields and planting in the late summer heat is coming to fruition.

After four or so weeks without drop, last week’s overcast and rainy days were so welcome.

Digging sweet potatoes, fixing broken hoop houses to prepare for cold weather, filling sandbags and organizing row cover has got us in the fall mindset.
