We’ve been prepping for our little holiday break and reflecting on the spirit of giving.

Our fingers may put up a fight in the early mornings when it’s still under 40F, but the truth is many of us on the farm love weeding.

We’re beginning the long and labor-intensive process of clearing out all the old warm weather plantings and making way for our big plan-ahead crops like garlic, onions, and spring flowers!

Week 12 is here— this is the last CSA pickup for the fall season!

We’ve been getting ready for the colder temps headed our way and prepping for springtime.

A few weeks earlier than the average date of first frost for Athens, but not totally out of the blue. We had a busy time getting the farm ready for the freeze!

As all of you seasoned gardeners know, first frost marks a turning point for plants.

This is such a rewarding time of year— all the hard work prepping fields and planting in the late summer heat is coming to fruition.

After four or so weeks without drop, last week’s overcast and rainy days were so welcome.

Digging sweet potatoes, fixing broken hoop houses to prepare for cold weather, filling sandbags and organizing row cover has got us in the fall mindset.

Has anyone else noticed that we haven’t had a good rain in a while? We’re certainly feeling it on the farm.

50’s in the morning and brilliant sunshine in the afternoon, the subtle shift in the afternoon light, the magic of being able to eat freshly picked okra, cherry tomatoes, daikon radish and kale in the same meal?! And don’t even get me started on the flowers right now!

Fall and summer crops are overlapping like crazy! September in Georgia is a magical month!!

If you haven’t been up before 8am recently you may not know this but fall really is coming! Last week’s cool temps and rain made for some happy plants.

We’re so excited to start the third session of our CSA off. This is a truly magical time of year for veggies: you’ll be seeing late plantings of summer favorites, alongside the return of greens, sweet potatoes, and other root crops.

Although we’ve been a short break from CSA, we’ve been cranking out some amazing fruits and veggies at the farm- and we can’t wait to share them with you again next week. There is still time to sign up for our Fall CSA!

We’ve made it to the end of the summer CSA season, and into our little late-summer break! We’re going to miss you terribly this week and next as we shift gears and get ready for the fall season to start the first week of September.
