W26 (WK8): Spring’s A-Knockin’
Dear Farm Community -
Spring Incoming! This is our last week of Winter CSA! While General Beauregard Lee (Punxsutawney Phil’s Georgia cousin) DID see his shadow at the beginning of the month, predicting six more weeks of winter….. can we really trust this guy with divination?
With a few low’s in the 20’s this week, the answer very well may be YES ……. but SPRING CSA STARTS NEXT WEEK ANYWAYS!
Some quick CSA member housekeeping!
If you’re a Weekly-Pay Member, purchased a Four-Season Share, or have already purchased your Spring or Three-Season Share - no need to do anything, you’re on our list for Spring! At the farm, flowers are beginning to flood in, our most celebrated spring veggies are sizing up, and y’all should get on board while the gettin is good! As we prepare to welcome Spring, we’d love to show you around the farm right now.
Probably one of the most anticipated crops of the YEAR, let alone just of spring, our strawberry plants are looking wonderful and flowers are dotted through the beds, holding promise of sweet juicy berries not too far off :) Our beet tunnel is also looking happy and healthy with lush delicious greens growing tall and beetroots sizing up beneath the soil!
TULIPS are beginning to pop! Dozens of varieties are getting closer to a flood of blooms. Right now a few of our Impression varieties are beginning to bloom and have made appearances at our weekend markets. If you’re a tulip freak like us you’ll want to get on board for our Spring flower share!
Chard & Fennel are continuing to produce gorgeous harvests………
…and our Anemones, early bloomers of the spring flowers world, are really beginning to produce some beautiful long stemmed blooms!! We’re loving the ruffled double petal varieties. Last year’s giant delphinium made us absolutely fall in love with their towering showstopping spires of petals. We’re looking for a repeat this year and spikes are beginning to grow tall!
Ranunculus plantings are going OFF in every color you can imagine. We’ve got poppies continuing to bloom, overwintered bachelor buttons and larkspur germinated in the fields, and snapdragons maturing in greenhouses, too. Spring is going to be a tidal wave of color ❤️
Take a peek in our seed houses and you’ll see every inch packed to the gills with seedlings peeking their leaves out of trays, sizing up for the year ahead. I spy some Cucumbers and Clarkia, and trays of Tomato seedlings that we’ll be selling at market later this year!
With all this enchanting buzz around the farm we want to make sure you have ample opportunity to participate in the life-giving magic that springs from our soil. With Spring CSA beginning next week, this is your last opportunity to take advantage of our full-season and three-season CSA options. These are our best deals when it comes to the dollar signs, and for our three-season members we also say thanks with ✨ FREE✨ farm merch! Be sure to sign up before next Sunday at 8pm so we can share our harvests with you all spring (and summer and fall 😉 ) If you’d rather keep it loosey goosey and flexible, hop on our Weekly Pay CSA anytime throughout the year.

This brassica is a nutrient powerhouse with tons of vitamins A, C, and K, fiber, and antioxidants to keep you healthy through this last stretch of winter! Whether you’re whipping up a protein packed kale quinoa salad, crisping it into a satisfying kale chip snack, or wilting it in a soup (like this creamy white bean soup with kale, rosemary, and lemon), kale brings a deliciously rich earthy flavor to your meal. If you’re still want for kale ideas or inspiration for the other items in your share this week, check out our recipes page :)
